The Process
The first step of developing firm-wide training materials is to thoroughly understand the firm, its market, its processes and its tools. Inconsistencies in practice and in the application of tools, and even potentially differences in market-facing activities across the firm, such as pricing of routine engagements, are normal in a CPA practice. As the firm seeks to optimize performance and profitability, it needs to turns its attention to such matters. finanSight can guide your business through this process, helping you to develop a comprehensive yet targeted understanding of the diverse methods of operation.
Once the processes are understood, the baseline for desired behavior, and in some instances for development of new tools, is established, and the curriculum can be developed.
But a curriculum alone is not enough. To effectively implement a training program that drives the desired behavior, new methods of training must be adopted: members of the firm must be coached in facilitation skills and in the materials, and responsibilities and procedures for curriculum expansion and updating must be implemented.
